Cowlick: This piece was painted with dirt and ash gathered from three different areas in The Little Belt Mountains of MT. The red that makes the pink tone of his nose and tongue is found North of Martinsdale in a spot where large chunks of earth break and fall exposing many layers with varieties and colors of soil. The white or tan colors come from North of Martinsdale as well in a spot along Mud Creek next to an old sawmill. The rich black tones that make up the calf are created with black ash that was gathered from an old forest fire in the Kings Hill area.
