Headed for Dirt: This piece was painted with two red tones. One is actual crushed brick that was found laying among the streets of Castle Town, a Montana ghost town located on private land in The Castle Mountains. This brick “saw” the hustle and bustle of a Montana mining community in its prime. The other red tone is from near Saphire Village in the Little Belt Mountains. Another mining community that has a lot of history. The yellow color also comes from the Little Belts in a spot North of Martinsdale where the ground breaks off exposing many layers and colors of soil. The white/tan dirt comes from along Mud Creek also North of Martinsdale near where an old sawmill once ran. The black is ash gathered from a forest fire that burned in the Kings Hill area and the blue is actual crushed turquoise.
