Muddy Marylands: This piece was painted with green dirt found in Sawmill Canyon of the Little Belt Mountains of Montana. As well as the golden/yellow tone that was gathered from north of Martinsdale in a spot where large chunks of earth break and fall exposing many layers with varieties and colors of soil including this vivid yellow clay. The details and “black eyes” are added with black ash gathered from a forest fire in the Kings Hill Area also of the Little Belt Mountains.
