Muddy Monarch:
This commissioned piece was painted with a combination of dirt. The red dirt came from 16 Mile Canyon near Ringling, MT and the yellow dirt came from North of Martinsdale, MT in the Little Belt Mountains. The darker dirt that makes up most of the butterfly was sent to me by the individual who commissioned the piece from her parents’ home in Iowa where she grew up, making the piece a special gift for her parents.
