Powerful Petals:
This piece is the first in the “Tones of Terra” series and was painted with a combination of dirt, ash and flower petals. The yellow dirt was gathered from North of Martinsdale in a spot where large chunks of earth break and fall exposing many layers with varieties and colors of soil including this vivid yellow clay. The green dirt was found near Spring Creek Road close to Martinsdale and the black is ash gathered from a forest fire that occurred during the summer of 2021 on Kings Hill Pass. The petals of the flower are painted with actual dried and crushed flower petals found growing near Belt Creek in Central Montana.
