Sunset at Square Butte: This piece was painted with a variety of dirt gathered from many places in Central Montana. Square Butte is an iconic landmark that is very well known across the state. The red dirt is from North of Martinsdale near a Blackfoot battlefield. There is also an old homestead that still stands nearby. The green tones were found near the Sawmill area of The Little Belt Mountains. There is also a brown tones gathered from near Geraldine, MT and in sight of the butte itself. The yellow tones were found near White Sulphur Springs, Montana and the blue background is created with crushed turquoise.
