Turquoise Tranquility: This piece was painted with yellow dirt gathered North of Martinsdale in a spot where large chunks of earth break and fall exposing many layers with varieties and colors of soil. The maroon/purple color was gathered from 16 Mile Canyon, near Ringling, MT where the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad used to run through. The green dirt creating the stems of the flowers was found in Sawmill Canyon of the Little Belt Mountains of Montana. The blue/green tones are painted with actual crushed turquoise and finally black ash from a forest fire in the Kings Hill area of the Little Belt Mountains was added to complete the details and shadows.
