Turquoise Trout: This piece was painted with yellow dirt gathered North of Martinsdale in a spot where large chunks of earth break and fall exposing many layers with varieties and colors of soil. The red/pink tones were made using a crushed brick found in the middle of Castle Town, a ghost town in the Castle Mountains of Montana. A brick that no doubt saw lots of excitement in the bustling old mining town. The blue/green tones of the fish are painted with actual crushed turquoise and finally the spots and the details of the eye are painted with black ash from a forest fire in the Kings Hill area of the Little Belt Mountains.
