Motley Mud:
This commissioned piece was painted with blue dirt discovered down in an old mine. It has the bluish/turquoise hue because it is technically calcium fluoride. It was found up in the Little Belts in the Carpenter Creek area of Kings Hill. The darker color dirt adding the details in the eyes, beak, feet and wings is from the Big Snowy Mountains near the Crystal Lake area and the yellow and red hues are from The Little Belt Mountains North of Martinsdale, MT.
